Honorary distinction “For Merits for Inventiveness” for our User
On the 23rd June 2021 one of our User Andrzej Swinarew, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Science and Technology in Katowice has received the honorary badge “For Merits for Inventiveness.” This prestigious award is granted by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki.
The badge was handed by Robert Tomanek, PhD, DSc, under-secretary of state at the Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology, and Edyta Demby-Siwek, the Chair of the Polish Patent Office in Warsaw, during the 14th International Conference in the series of “Innovation and Creativity in Economy”. This year's edition was titled “Business Reinforced by Design – in the COVID and post-COVID Era”.
For many years, Prof. Andrzej Swinarew has been conducting an innovative research in the field of material science and biomedical engineering. In his work, he uses, among others, synchrotron techniques and the cryo-EM technique, which are provided by SOLARIS Centre. His achievements are characterized by innovative technological solutions, confirmed by over 70 inventions submitted to protection by the Polish Patent Office. Five of them was already implemented by the industry. Moreover, the outstanding scientist combines technological innovation with innovative aesthetics, creating original projects also in the field of original device design.
The prime minister's distinction, however, is not the only award of Prof. Andrzej Swinarew. The distinguished scientist and educator received many of them in his career. In 2017 for his inventive and scientific activity he was awarded the Tadeusz Sendzimir Honorary Medal by the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers (SPWiR).
