Synchrotron research on SARS-CoV-2

In January 2020, the WHO declared the recent outbreak of coronavirus disease a public health emergency of international concern. Synchrotron facilities are joining forces in front of the coronavirus pandemic, offering their capacities to the whole scientific community.
Their dedicated and specialised biochemical techniques support the needs to improve our understanding of the newly identified virus and its possible future evolution. Several facilities are opening calls for rapid access to dedicated beamtime. SOLARIS Centre is among them. Polish facility gives access to its cryo-electron microscope thanks to a CERIC-ERIC initiative.
A list of worldwide facilities which have set up the dedicated Fast Track Access on SARS-CoV-2 can be found at Lightsources.org website At the same international platform the list of current research publications about SARS-CoV-2 virus is available. Both lists are updated on a daily basis. Lightsources.org is the result of the collaboration between communicators from light source facilities around the world.
The European Research Area has also joined the fight against the novel coronavirus. Information on the activities undertaken by the European Union in this regard is available on the website ERA corona platform.
