Algorithm for Mie-type Scattering Correction of IR radiation for cylindrical samples

Algorithm for Mie-type Scattering Correction of IR radiation for cylindrical samples

20.09.2023
Researchers from the CIRI beamline have published an algorithm for correcting artifacts related to Mie-type scattering for cylindrical samples, e.g. fibers. Samples with cylindrical domains are currently widely explored, especially with polarized infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Therefore, the new algorithm, aside from unpolarized light case, can also be utilized in experiments with polarized radiation.

New application possibilities for antiferromagnetic materials.

New application possibilities for antiferromagnetic materials.

18.09.2023
Researchers from DEMETER beamline together with researchers from the Madrid Institute of Ceramics and Glass and Spanish National Research Council in the Ultramicroscopy journal described a method for producing thin layers of the antiferromagnet NixCo1-xO on a Ru(0001) substrate. The properties of mixed nickel-cobalt oxides were investigated using X-ray Photoemission Electron Microscopy (XPEEM) at the Alba synchrotron in Barcelona.

JU MCB scientists have found how to make a protein from methylated mRNA.

JU MCB scientists have found how to make a protein from methylated mRNA.

18.09.2023
The latest work of scientists from the Malopolska Center of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University revealed the mechanistic effects of a specific mRNA modification, namely N6 adenine methylation (m6A), on the translation process. The results were obtained in collaboration with a group at Max Planck Institute in Göttingen and recently published in “Nature Communications”. The research was conducted at the MCB Structural Biology Core Facility and at the SOLARIS Centre using the Titan Krios G3i Cryo-electron Microscopy.

Insightful studies of AuCu nanostructures exhibiting improved photoactivity.

Insightful studies of AuCu nanostructures exhibiting improved photoactivity.

22.08.2023
Researchers from the Laboratory of Functional Materials (Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences) studied the chemical nature of AuCu nanostructures deposited on Ti platform by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. For the first time, synchrotron radiation based investigations of AuCu nanostructures were conducted in order to describe details of the material structure fabricated during rapid thermal annealing in various atmospheres and its impact onto the photoelectrochemical activity.

Electronic structure of defected 1T-TaS2.

18.09.2023
Researchers from the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics of Lodz University in cooperation with URANOS scientists investigated the electronic structure of 1T-TaS2. High-resolution ARPES measurements were performed at Solaris as part of a comprehensive study of the influence of structural defects on the electronic properties of bulk 1T-TaS2.
