The beamline manager will contact you to determine to set up time of the experiment. The manager prepares a semi-annual schedule for the beamline, including time for users, machine time and synchrotron shutdown. Preferred and unacceptable dates (declared while submitting a proposal on DUO) are taken into account as much as possible by the beamline manager.
If there would be a need to change information already reported in the Final Declaration, it has to be done no later than 3 working days before the experiment. In order to modify changes, Main Proposer needs to contact SOLARIS User Office.
The Final Declaration should include the following information:
The Beamline Manager or SOLARIS User Office can contact the Main Proposer in case of any inaccuracies or questions about the Final Declaration.
To get an access card to the SOLARIS infrastructure, it is required to complete the Safety Training available at the DUO webpage (https://duo.synchrotron.pl/#/trainings).
The beamline staff will help you to start your experiment by preparing the beamline within the limits of a standard set-up, introduce you to the operating of the beamline and help you in setting up the sample environment.
The beamline staff will help you to perform your experiment. Attention! The beamline scientists do not provide the full service during the experiment.
The experimental group is obliged to provide sufficient staff to operate the experiment 24 hours per day.
The working space must be cleaned and left in the same condition as it was prepared at the beginning of the experiment.
If necessary, the User can send samples to NSRC SOLARIS. Users are obliged to cover the costs of shipping samples to the SOLARIS Centre The documents necessary for the transport must be provided by the users as well as the positive decision of transporting the sample.
Except of the shipment-related safety requirements, the samples must also meet SOLARIS safety requirements. The user will be informed about the specific requirements along with the sample safety evaluation.
NOTE: it is not possible to postpone scheduled date of the experiment or to extend the granted beamtime due to a delay of the transport of the sample. Please make sure to make the shipment early enough!
The data related to the experiment are stored at the SOLARIS data server for 6 months following the experiment completion day and 30 days for experiments performed on Cryo-EM microscope.
SOLARIS is not liable for keeping the User's results and data.
The User may use personal data storage tool for saving the results.
The SOLARIS Centre operates in a 24/6 mode (24 hours a day, 6 days a week).
Beam is delivered to beamlines from Tuesday to Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (11 hours) and between 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (11 hours). Beam injection is performed between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and again between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The SOLARIS Centre provide synchrotron operators' support:
from Tuesday to Friday
between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. - on-site support
between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. - on-call support
on Saturdays
during beam injection (between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and again between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.) - on-site support
in any other time of the day - on-call support.
from Tuesday to Friday:
during working hours - on-site support
after working hours until 10 p.m. - on-call support
on Saturday: on-call support.
The application for a new project, or the continuation of a project for which you have previously been allocated beam time, requires submission a report on each of your previous measurement(s).
The Review Committees reserve the right to reject the new proposals from groups who have not reported on the use of beam time allocated previously on time.
Instructions for preparing your Report
All users must provide proper credit to SOLARIS staff members and proper mention to SOLARIS facilities which were essential for the results described in any ensuing publication. The Users are also obliged to send to the User Office the complete reference and the abstract of all papers appearing in print or online, and resulting from the use of the SOLARIS.
Should you wish to make more general comments on the experiment, please note them on the User Evaluation Form (the link to the survey is sent by the User's Office each time after the end of the experiment).
Note:
