SOLARIS synchrotron construction contract

SOLARIS synchrotron construction contract

On 9 April 2010 the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Barbara Kudrycka and the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Prof. Karol Musioł signed in Collegium Maius the contract for the project ‘National Electromagnetic Radiation Research Centre (stage I).

This is a unique and a very important project for the Polish science and the Małopolska region. It opens up new opportunities for valuable research in many fields of science. Today, Polish scientists who need to use synchrotron radiation are forced to seek the help of centres abroad. The synchrotron in Kraków is a great chance for Poland, for the region, and for the Jagiellonian University, which coordinates the Synchrotron Project. The facility will be built on the Third University Campus. It will improve the position of Kraków on the scientific map of Europe and it will contribute to the development of international co-operation.
