First XAFS spectrum of sulfur at K-absorption edge was recorded on SOLABS beamline
On our SOLABS beamline, we have just managed to record the XAFS spectrum of sulfur at K-absorption edge for the first time!As you well know, the SOLABS beamline was specially designed for XAS measurements in a tender energy range, i.e., at the K absorption edges of important elements such as P, S, Si, Al and Mg. These measurements, despite the great
interest among users, are not yet widespread on other synchrotrons. This means that the theoretical assumptions made in the design of the beamline by our "founding fathers" have been confirmed.
The beamline SOLABS (XAS-HN) is intended for fundamental and applied research in:
- materials science, physics and chemistry (investigation of functional materials, esp. alloys, oxidic systems and catalysts, coatings, adhesives, etc.)
- biomedicine (investigation of metalloproteins, investigation of the stability, uptake and therapeutic mechanism of action of inorganic and bio-inorganic drugs, etc.)
- environmental protection (e.g., speciation of toxic elements during bioaccumulation).
