The 12th edition of the International Conference on Advanced Vibrational Spectroscopy (ICAVS12) is taking place in Krakow, Poland, from August 27 to September 1. The meeting is devoted entirely to discussing advances in all areas of vibrational spectroscopy and provides an excellent opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences in the field.

During ICAVS12 there are 40 thematic sessions on 10 research areas, with 14 lectures in plenary sessions, 80 invited talks and 140 lectures. Nearly 600 specialists from around the world participate in all the meetings. One element of the event is visits to the SOLARIS Centre. During one of them, participants learned about elements of the CIRI beamline and its research capabilities.

- On Sunday we had a pleasure to host a presentation of the new mIRage-LS microscope at CIRI Beamline for the participants of ICAVS conference. Using this opportunity the 70 attendees not only learned about O-PTIR microscopy but also got to know the research infrastructure capabilities of Solaris Centre. We'd like to thank the Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp. and the participants! Said Dr. Tomasz Wróbel, Biomedical Research Section Coordinator, supervisor of the CIRI beamline.

By organizing such workshops, the SOLARIS Centre can expand its network of contacts among scientists around the world. It also provides an opportunity to present the infrastructure and its potential in the context of conducting research.

More information about the conference can be found here.
