Baltic TRAM
Baltic TRAM (Transnational Research Access in the Macroregion) is an international project which seeks to strengthen the relationship between analytical research institutions and business, and link expertise to concrete industrial needs. It operates in the Baltic Sea Region.
Baltic TRAM establishes structures to serve as interface between analytical research institutes and companies, so called Industrial Research Centers. Invited companies will get consultations and access to research facilities to test their ideas.
The overall objective is to boost innovation, secure the implementation of smart specialization strategies, and encourage entrepreneurship by supporting small and medium size enterprise – thus contributing to the regional effort of making the Baltic Sea Region innovative, sustainable and competitive.
To achieve this, Baltic TRAM also feeds into the regional research and innovation agenda. It performs benchmarking analysis on national roadmaps for research infrastructures and smart specialization strategies, and provides recommendations to policy makers.
Baltic TRAM is led by DESY, Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, in dialogue with 14 project partners and 5 associated organisations from across the Baltic Sea Region.
Other project partners include: Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (Germany); Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences; Invest in Skåne (Sweden); University of Turku (Finland); University of Southern Denmark, Mads Clausen Institute; Foundation of Innovative Initiatives; University of Latvia, Kainuun Etu Oy (Finland), University of Tartu (Estonia), Baltic Development Forum, Council of the Baltic Sea States, Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology.
The project is partly funded by the European Union
