BEATS

An international project with the objective to design, procure, construct and commission a beamline for hard X-ray full-field tomography at the SESAME synchrotron.

Led by the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), BEATS involves SESAME, the Cyprus Institute, ALBA-CELLS, DESY, Elettra synchrotron, Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, the Paul Scherrer Institut, and the SOLARIS Centre. The initiative is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The impementation is planned for 2019-2022.

SESAME (the Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) is a synchrotron laboratory located in Jordan, and created under the auspices of UNESCO. Among founding partners were, besides Jordan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, the Palestinian Authority, and Turkey. The centre was inaugurated on 16 May 2017.

 

BEATS project has received funding from the EU’s H2020 framework programme for research and innovation under grant agreement no 822535.
