This year's Joint Meeting of the Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society and SOLARIS Centre Users has ended.

This year's Joint Meeting of the Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society and SOLARIS Centre Users has ended.

At the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University, on September 20-23, 2022, the second in the series of meetings entitled ” Joint Meeting of the Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society and SOLARIS Centre Users”.

The Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society (PTPS) has been organizing meetings of Polish users of synchrotron radiation every two years since 1991. Thanks to the efforts of the scientific community associated in the Polish Synchrotron Consortium and members of PTPS, in 2010 the construction of the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre began. From 2018, users of synchrotron radiation from all over the world can conduct research on the measurement lines of the SOLARIS synchrotron, which has thus become a unique research center in Poland.

The first conference in the series "Joint Meeting of Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society and SOLARIS Center Users" was held in 2020 as a combination of the inaugural meeting of SOLARIS Center users and the National Synchrotron Radiation Users Symposium.

The second edition of this joint conference was held on September 20-23, 2022, hosting nearly 150 participants from Poland and abroad. The meeting brought together the communities of scientists associated with the SOLARIS Synchrotron research stations and scientists from the Polish Synchrotron Radiation Society.

The aim of the conference was to integrate these groups and consolidate them at the SOLARIS Centre. The symposium enabled the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of scientific research with the use of synchrotron radiation. It is worth noting that it was also a great opportunity to discuss aspects of scientific instruments, technical development and the needs of the scientific community. Discussions and lectures were also accompanied by a poster session and a visit to the SOLARIS Centre.

This conference was the only event of this type in the country, enabling the exchange of knowledge and experience related to scientific research using synchrotron radiation. The organizers hope that it will make a measurable contribution to ensuring the highest world level of this research conducted at the synchrotron in Krakow.
