Removal of uranium and thorium from aqueous solutions

The ASTRA beamline was visited by a group of scientists from Lublin: Dr Agnieszka Gładysz-Płaska, Prof. Marek Majdan from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Dr Ewelina Grabias-Blicharz and student Bartosz Płaska from the Medical University of Lublin in order to carry out very interesting research related to the removal of uranium and thorium from aqueous solutions on functionalized silica materials. The experiments concerned samples of silica and zeolite X filled with phosphorus ions, as well as non-radioactive forms of uranium and thorium (CH3COO)2UO2·2H2O and Th(NO3)4·6H2O respectively, purchased in Poland from ChMES SA. The measurements were performed with the cooperation and great engagement of Dr Alexey Maximenko, who supported them with his professional knowledge and advice.
7th Silesian Science Festival in Katowice with the participation of SOLARIS

The SOLARIS Centre participated in the 7th Silesian Science Festival takes place from 9 to 11 December in the International Congress Centre and Spodek Arena in Katowice under the motto: Science will give us a future. Nearly 70,000 people took part in the event!

8 grudnia br. na boisku hali Zespołu Szkół Ogólnokształcących Sportowych nr 2 w Krakowie odbył się III Charytatywny Amatorski Turniej w Piłce Siatkowej. Na boisku spotkało się sześć drużyn: Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących Sportowych nr 2 w Krakowie, UJ Collegium Medicum, Szpital Uniwersytecki w Krakowie, NCPS Solaris i Urząd Miasta Krakowa. Głównym celem przedsięwzięcia było zebranie środków finansowych na rzecz działającego w Krakowie Hospicjum św. Łazarza.
SOLARIS at the Life Science Open Space 2023 conference

From 30 November to 1 December, the annual LSOS Innovation Forum - Life Science Open Space, was held in the Krakow Technology Park. The event is addressed to scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, doctors, brokers, investors and officials – who, thanks to their cooperation and commitment, contribute to the introduction of innovative solutions in the field of health and quality of life. The conference was organized by the Klaster LifeScience Krakow, Sano – Centre for Computational Medicine and Krakow Technology Park.
Recruitment for the second edition of DESY Ukraine School has started

Following the 2023 DESY Ukraine Winter School, the 2024 DESY Ukraine School will run in parallel with the Summer Student program, and offer students enrolled at a Ukrainian university the opportunity to come to DESY and obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory. The 2024 Ukraine School will take place in parallel to and in cooperation with the 2024 DESY Summer Student Program.
