Installation of XMCD beamline

Installation of XMCD beamline

In May 2019, the first devices (the so-called front end) of the beamline with the working name XMCD were installed in the SOLARIS synchrotron tunnel.

In the next step of installation, the SOLARIS team will put the undulator in the straight section of the synchrotron. The task should be completed in the summer of 2019.

The XMCD beamline will be equipped with a PEEM microscope and an octupole station. In the future, the purchase of the STXM microscope is also planned. The potential application of the XMCD beamline includes magnetic order research, domain structure research, imaging of the chemical composition, biomolecular spectroscopy, fluorescence detection. The first researchers will gain access to the XMCD infrastructure in 2021.

More information can be found in section Beamlines.
