The Autumn call for proposals is already open.

The Autumn call for proposals is already open.

We are happy to inform you that the Autumn 2023 call for proposals to SOLARIS is already open! The deadline for submitting proposals is exceptionally the 2nd of October 2023 at 23:59 CET.

Accepted experiments are planned to be carried out from September 2023 to February 2024.

Available research infrastructure:

ASTRA beamline (tender and hard X-ray absorption spectroscopy),
CIRI beamline (micro- and nanometric chemical imaging) – only Expert Commissioning Access,
DEMETER beamline
  PEEM (a photoemission electron microscope),
  STXM (scanning transmission X-ray microscope),
PHELIX beamline (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy),
PIRX beamline (soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy),
POLYX beamline (X-ray microimaging and X-ray microspectroscopy) – only Expert Commissioning Access,
URANOS beamline (ultra angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy),
Titan Krios G3i cryo-electron microscope.

Beamtime applications are submitted through the user portal Digital User Office (DUO). We strongly recommend discussing the feasibility of planned experiments with the responsible infrastructure scientist prior to the submission of a proposal, in particular, if you are a new user.

More information about our research infrastructure and performing experiments in SOLARIS can be found on our website.

SOLARIS welcomes the submission of proposals for CIRI, POLYX beamlines and spin detector at URANOS beamline for scientific experiments that will help in the commissioning of these three new infrastructure. The proposals will be submitted under the so called Expert Commissioning access, for which special criteria apply.

Scientists are also welcome to submit their application to SOLARIS through the CERIC - ERIC call for proposals, using the Virtual Unified Office (VUO). All details can be found here: https://www.ceric-eric.eu/users/call-for-proposals/
Access to CERIC-ERIC is open to researchers from all over the world through two Calls for Proposals per year organized in the same time as at the SOLARIS.
In addition to the possibility to access several instruments through a single application, CERIC offers support for mobility, accommodation for two people per research group and awards for high quality open access publications.

The results of the evaluation of applications from the autumn call for proposals can be expected in December 2023.

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our User Office.
