More and more parts required for the assembly of the SOLARIS synchrotron are arriving at Kraków. Mid-December 2013, SOLARIS received the most important part of the linac, i.e. accelerating units.

The National Research and Development Centre has granted funds for the construction of the second beamline of SOLARIS, UARPES. The name of the beamline, UARPES is formed by the combination of the first letters of the name of the technique: Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy and the letter U for ‘ultra’ which stands for the unique research opportunities.

At the beginning of February 2013, one of the key stages of the SOLARIS synchrotron construction was completed. Despite poor weather, the core shell has been finished and further construction works inside the building are progressing according to the schedule. The building will be fully completed in the third quarter of this year.

On 9 April 2010 the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Barbara Kudrycka and the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Prof. Karol Musioł signed in Collegium Maius the contract for the project ‘National Electromagnetic Radiation Research Centre (stage I).
