The installation of the straight section chamber for the undulator commences the construction of the PHELIX beamline.

On 29 June 2018 a cooperation agreement between the Jagiellonian University and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia was signed. The agreement envisages the construction and operation of a Laboratory for Structural Research into Macromolecules and New Materials at the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre.

On 25 May 2018, the first SOLARIS synchrotron call for proposals was completed.

Baltic TRAM’s 2nd call for research services is almost 2/3 of the way through, with a total of 15 companies having applied. SOLARIS Centre is one of the project's partners.

In the end of 2017 a photoemission electron microscope had been successfully installed on SOLARIS PEEM/XAS beamline. For the first time in Poland synchrotron radiation was used to image the sample surface with chemical and magnetic resolution.
