The source of X-ray radiation for MAVKA beamline is an in-vacuum U19 undulator, which installed in the SOLARIS storage ring will be able to generate X-rays in a broad spectral range (0.5 – 9.0 keV) with a high flux. Downstream the undulator is a frontend, which shapes X-ray beam for the subsequent beamline optics.
First optical component of the beamline is a bendable toroidal mirror (M1), which vertically collimates the beam and focuses it horizontally into an intermediate focus. Double crystal monochromator (DCM) with installed Si (111) crystals will operate in 2.5 – 9 keV energy range. This range can be expanded by equipping DCM with additional crystal pairs.
Second phase of the beamline construction envisions installation of multilayer grating monochromator (MGM) and high harmonic rejection (HHR) optics in order to cover soft X-ray energy range (0.5 – 2.5 keV).
Kirkpatrick–Baez (KB) mirror pair will be used to focus X-ray beam to micrometer size on the sample position of the XPS/XAS endstation. AP-HAXPES endstation will be placed at the end of the beamline.
