Caught in the frame: the birth of nanostructures.
28.05.2025
A team led by prof. Magdalena Parlińska-Wojtan from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences conducted advanced research on the process of electrodeposition of metallic nanostructures, using unique microscopic techniques in a liquid environment. International cooperation, including the Silesian University of Technology, the University of Warsaw, the SOLARIS Center, ETH Zurich, and the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin, resulted in a publication in the prestigious journal Nano Letters.

Structure of next-generation catalysts
08.05.2025
In a study published in Molecular Catalysis researchers from West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Warsaw University of Technology, Graz University of Technology, and National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS explored the structure of next-generation catalysts for ammonia synthesis. Only the combination of standard laboratory measurements with possibilities of synchrotron XANES/EXAFS allowed understanding mechanisms leading to the active form of the synthesised material.

Discovery of Dirac Cones in Co-Doped CaFe2As2 Compounds
30.04.2025
Polish scientists from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and the Institute of Low Temperature and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław conducted research in condensed matter physics. They analyzed the electronic structure of Co-doped CaFe2As2 compounds using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). This compound belongs to the family of iron-based superconductors.

Unlocking the Secrets of Light-Driven Nanoparticles
23.04.2025
In a groundbreaking study recently published in Nature Communications, researchers from Uppsala University (lead by Prof. Jacinto Sá) and SOLARIS Center (lead by dr Anna Wach and Prof. Jakub Szlachetko) explored how these hot carriers are formed and evolve inside gold nanoparticles. Using a combination of steady-state X-ray measurements at Solaris synchrotron in Poland and ultrafast X-ray spectroscopy at SwissFEL in Switzerland, they were able to observe these ultrafast processes in real time.
