On Thursday, March 6th, at 2:00 PM, the SOLARIS Center is honored to invite you to another lecture in the Scientific Department Seminar series. This month, we will host Dr. Raul Freitas from the Brazilian SYNCHROTRON LIGHT SOURCE SIRIUS, who will share his knowledge and experience in the field of synchrotron technologies. His presentation, titled "Synchrotron IR-THz program at Sirius: from installation challenges to full operation," will focus on the challenges related to the installation and full operation of the IR-THz program at SIRIUS.

On 1 March, the spring call for proposals for beamtime at the SOLARIS Centre was opened. Researchers can apply for the opportunity to conduct their research on one of the available beamlines, such as: ASTRA, CIRI, DEMETER (PEEM, STXM), PHELIX, PIRX, POLYX, URANOS and cryo-electron microscope Titan Krios G3i. The deadline for submitting proposals will be the 1th. of April 2025 at 23:59 CET.

On March 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM, a special lecture by Professor Mauri Kostiainen from Aalto University will take place in the NCPS SOLARIS Conference Room in Kraków. He will discuss the topic of capsid polymorphism in DNA and mRNA-based origami viruses. We warmly invite all those interested in this subject to participate in the lecture, which is sure to provide valuable information and inspiration for scientists, students, and enthusiasts of molecular biology.

Last Thursday, February 20th, the Faculty of Chemistry at Jagiellonian University, together with the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS, opened its doors to all scientists, inviting them to the "Open Day at the SOLARIS National Centre." The event was an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest achievements in research utilizing synchrotron radiation and cryo-microscopy. The program included not only presentations of available research facilities but also practical tips on writing proposals for research time.

We warmly invite you to the first scientific seminar of the year organized by the SOLARIS Center. Our special guest will be Dr. Jarosław Duda from the Institute of Computer Science and Mathematical Foundations at Jagiellonian University, who will give a lecture titled “Potential new applications of synchrotron radiation, such as emission coefficient mapping, radiotherapy, or 2WQC.” The seminar will take place on February 19 at 2:00 PM in the Conference Room of NCPS SOLARIS at 98 Czerwone Maki Street in Kraków.
