Inauguration of the RIFF project and Conference dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine’s research and higher education

In mid-September, Brno became the focal point of discussions on the future of Ukrainian science and higher education. On 16 September, the inaugural meeting of the RIFF project consortium (Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine: Roadmap for Sustained Growth and Recovery) was held, followed the next day by the international conference Ukraine’s Reconstruction in Research and Higher Education, which was also attended by representatives of the Kraków-based SOLARIS Centre.

SOLARIS at the 49th Congress of Polish Physicists: Science, Industry, Education

The National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS actively participated in the 49th Congress of Polish Physicists – one of the most important events for the physics community in Poland, organized by the Polish Physical Society. The event attracted the most prominent researchers and educators from across the country, as well as numerous international guests. A special highlight of this year's edition was the presence of the honorary guest – Prof. Anne L’Huillier, the 2023 Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, awarded for her pioneering work on attosecond light pulses.

A working meeting was held in Poznań dedicated to the preparations for an international project proposal aimed at developing the infrastructure of Open Science through the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) solutions into scientific research.

Mayor of the City of Krakow at the SOLARIS Centre – where science meets local government

The Mayor of the City of Krakow, Dr Aleksander Miszalski, visited the SOLARIS Centre. During the visit, the synchrotron infrastructure was presented and potential areas of collaboration at the intersection of science, education, industry, and urban development were discussed. The meeting opened up a space for dialogue between one of Poland’s leading research institutions and the local government.
